Default retibution farming

Hey people, this is my build for farming Old Ascalon in hard mode quickly, using w/mo:

Skills:

***replace standing slash with whatever else you may wish to use (don’t take a defensive skill). Rush is worth having for jogging from place to place***

Equipment: decent sword (max damage) (furious hilt is useful), max shield (+health whilst enchanted), max armor (again your preference – I use knights: I know it reduces damage taken {and therefore damage given out} but its effective and doesn’t hinder my build in any way)

Runes: I use a major vigor (I’m not rich enough to splash out on the superior) and superior swordsman ship, with minor tactics and strength.

The idea is to farm stone elementals in old Ascalon out side Sardelac sanitarium.

Enter old Ascalon from Sardelac sanitarium and cast both auroras’. Head left towards the groups of elementals (and avoid crawl). When you engage a group of elementals use auspicious parry as soon as possible to gain adrenaline - then simply cycle riposte and lions comfort until the elementals are down, use auspicious parry to keep up adrenaline constantly. If you come across the boss “cobblestone” he can be easily soloed by cycling riposte and auspicious parry continuously (he won’t even be able to hit you ).

The route I take :

******USING HEALING SIGNET CAN SPEED UP KILLS******

PROS:
- Good drops; usually golds, tomes, lock picks and occasional rubies.
- The run doesn't take long (5 minutes at the most).
- Its quicker than using VwK W/Rt build or FoW W/Me build.

Cons
- Large groups can be a challenge, but are usually possible.
- Crawl are a tad hard to farm so I’d suggest not bothering.

Alterations?: I personally can’t find a more effective way to use this build- taking signets is pointless as they spend most of the time recharging. There is no need to bring any other attack skills unless you feel like farming any ranged attack enemies or casters.

Tips:
• When fighting just one elemental only use auspicious parry and riposte, it will kill the elemental a lot quicker and it will be unable to hit you.
• Use healing signet to increase damage elementals inflict upon themselves (dangerous against large groups)
• Make sure your always attacking (obvious but important)
• Don’t fight crawl or flint (elementalist boss) – you’ll probably die.

Cheers- arch

Nice build..think i'm going to try it how. Would frenzy speed up the killing or would it get in the way of parry too much?

Nice. I tried something like this a while ago, but I couldn't get it to work. Then again, I have tried everything. Kudos on making this work.
So, this will basically work anywhere where there are small groups?

i like the originality and simplicity of the build. it also should be able to farm other places with teeny changes. ty for another fun and effective farm.
@ekamdu: i think Mo/W could definitely do it, what with more damage done to it and more dmg dealt from holy wrath and retribution. Maybe even give Frenzy + Heal Sig a try!

lol cheers. and yes it works elsewhere gurt well
i put up a short guide to useing it in FoW on the beach/cave earlier on after trying it out. lol i used frenzy with retibution while inventing the build- useing just retribution, didnt work too well though. also tried buying basic 35 ac armor which suprisingly didnt change the damage out put very much. one fun thin i did was to be half naked/ half dressed in 35 ac armor then took endure pain and signet of stamina and pumped strength and smiting to 12... was quite funny but very unreliable

Nice build... but I either have to get a sword or figure out a axe build.

any sword wil do tbh- if its not a good one you could take stats out of swordsmanship and increase strength. if you realy want to take an axe take disrupting chop or a high damage attack. disrupting chop could be quite good actualy - be a bit slower for the general farming, but could farm the elemental boss flint, and gargoyles, more effectively. its up to you of course.
